Penny is a portfolio project operated by Ramiz in Ontario, Canada. This page explains what the app stores and why, in plain language.

What we collect

  • Your name and email address, from your sign-in provider (Clerk).
  • The financial records you enter or import: accounts (name, type, optional last 4 digits), transactions, budgets, recurring bills and goals.
  • If you subscribe, Stripe processes your payment. Penny stores your Stripe customer and subscription ids and plan status - never card numbers.
  • A daily count of Ask Oreo questions, to enforce plan limits.

What we never collect

  • Bank usernames or passwords. Penny does not connect to your bank.
  • Full card or account numbers.

AI processing

When you use Ask Oreo, a summary of your data (totals by month and category, budgets, upcoming bills, goals) and your question are sent to Anthropic to generate the answer. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models by default.

Where data lives

Data is stored in a Supabase Postgres database hosted in Canada (ca-central-1). The app runs on Vercel.

Your choices

  • Export everything at any time from Settings (JSON or CSV).
  • Delete all of your financial data from Settings. To delete your login too, contact us.

Demo mode

The demo uses generated sample data and stores nothing on the server. Edits you make in the demo live only in your browser tab.
